Join a veteran-focused yoga class

The Veterans Yoga Project will host an in-person and virtual 30-minute yoga class prior to the second annual American Legion Be the One symposium on Aug. 22 in New Orleans. The yoga class will start at 8:30 a.m. Central time in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

In-person and virtual attendees can register here.

The yoga class will be conducted by U.S. Marine veteran and Veterans Yoga Project instructor Brianna Renner.

“Over the course of 30 minutes, together with Veterans Yoga Project you will directly experience practices that will raise your present moment awareness and mindfulness,” Renner said about the class she will teach. “You will explore an attitude of gratitude. You don't need to touch your toes or stand on your head to practice with us!  All you need to do is breathe to get amazing benefits!"

The yoga class is sponsored by Grouper, the national leader in activity benefit administration, which recently partnered with The American Legion to enhance veterans' health by providing access to benefits that help cover the cost of Legionnaire activities.

The second annual Be the One symposium will be held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 22. The symposium will focus on the most pressing issue facing veterans today — mental health and, more specifically, suicide. The event is free but you can review the schedule and register to reserve a spot at this link. The sessions will be recorded and made available later for those unable to attend.
