Palou, Lundqvist closing in on series champ, Rookie of the Year heading to Milwaukee

Two Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) drivers head into this weekend’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES doubleheader at the Milwaukee Mile oval hoping to get a step closer to earning a championship of sorts.

Alex Palou, driving the No. 10 DHL Honda with American Legion branding, has a 54-point lead over Will Power in the series points race with just three races remaining. Should Palou continue the consistency he’s shown all season – 12 top-five finishes and two wins – he’ll likely pick up his third INDYCAR SERIES championship in four years.

Meanwhile, CGR rookie Linus Lundqvist still has a big lead in his quest to win the INDYCAR Rookie of the Year Award. Driving the No. 8 American Legion Honda featuring Be the One branding, Lundqvist has a 74-point lead over teammate Kyffin Simpson. Lundqvist’s last effort on an oval track resulted in a third-place finish in the Bommarito Automotive Group 500.

Both races will be 250 miles over 250 laps on the legendary Milwaukee Mile on the grounds of the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wis. The track is a one-mile oval that drives more like a road course because of the nine-degree banking in the turns. Drivers can't go flat out on the course, which creates overtaking opportunities in the turns as well as the straights.
