Donald F. Janisch

Donald Francis Janisch passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2024, in Grand Rapid, Mich. Janisch, 92, was born in Britton, S.D., to George and Verna Janisch. Upon high school graduation, he joined the Air Force Armed Service for four years, stationed in Salina, Kan., where he met his wife, Dorothy. The couple settled in Lawrence, Kan., where Donald was the manager of a wholesale meat market. After several years he went into business for himself, buying and running Janisch Liquor in Lawrence. Upon retirement, he and Dorothy spent several winters in the South Padre Island/Port Isabel, Texas, area. Janisch eventually moved to Port Isabel full-time in 2018. He was a member of Post 14 in Lawrence.

Janisch is survived by his daughter Nancy, son Steve, granddaughter Katie, grandson Sam, granddaughter-in-law Haley, and sisters Dorothy and Virginia.
