The full Montel launches a new podcast season

Marine Corps and Navy veteran Montel Williams helps co-hosts Ashley Gutermuth and Stacy Pearsall kick off the new season of The American Legion Tango Alpha Lima podcast in this week’s episode. The new season also offers a refresh of the format, including several new segments to tap into Gutermuth’s comedic ways.

Emmy-award winning TV host, entrepreneur and inspirational speaker Williams is the episode’s special guest. He is active in raising awareness of non-medical treatments to help veterans, first responders and others overcome post-traumatic stress disorder. He is passionate about Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) therapy, a non-drug, non-traumatizing treatment that reprograms the neurological connection between the brain and traumatic memories.

“What RTM does is it reconsolidates those traumatic memories,” he said, noting it works for those who have experienced combat trauma, sexual assault, childhood abuse and other issues. “It puts the person in a position to basically rewire that part of the brain to make that memory not as traumatic.”

Once the patient undergoes the treatment, the memories don’t lead to anxiety, sleeplessness, anger and other related issues. It has a success rate of 90%, studies show.

“It is available now for any veteran who wants it,” he said, noting The American Legion Department of New York supports the therapy. “I took the time to read the studies, understood what they were talking about, and understood that there is a cure here. There is hope here.”

Additionally, Gutermuth and Pearsall also:

• Kick off a new feature, “Troll Patrol.” In the debut installment of this feature, the hosts extinguish the perception of smoke-filled American Legion posts.

• Introduce another new segment, the “Scuttlebutt.” This week, they reveal a “stress card” for trainees.

• Reveal that platypuses sweat milk.
