National Riders chairman urges support for VCF in new video

During last May’s National Executive Committee Spring Meetings, it was announced that The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund has reached a point where it can sustain itself through the foreseeable future. After discussions with leadership of the American Legion Riders – which has made raising money for the Legacy Fund its primary mission via the annual American Legion Legacy Run – it was determined that starting in 2024, the annual charity motorcycle ride will be fundraising for The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF).

Earlier this fall, National American Legion Riders Chairman Mark Clark, who also serves as chief road captain for the Legacy Run, sat down to talk about the switch to fundraising for the VCF and the foundation’s critical mission.

“The American Legion Riders have always embraced the priorities of the national leadership. Our national leadership has come to us and asked us to support the Veterans & Children Foundation,” Clark says in the video. “This is a foundation commonly known as ‘the foundation for hope.’ And I think once our Riders understand the importance of it, once they get a chance to kind of peel back that onion and see the impact in changing lives and saving lives that the Veterans & Children Foundation has, that they’ll eagerly embrace that.”

Clark also calls the Legion Riders “a dynamic force for good” while explaining all of the facets of the VCF and how it makes an impact on those it assists. “It provides hope for our veterans and their families especially families with children,” he says. “The American Legion Riders have always embraced doing something for the kids. This foundation does just that.”
