On Aug. 2, 2023, American Legion Post 90 of SW Florida in Cape Coral was awarded a prestigious honor from The American Legion Media Alliance (TALMA), and consequently the City of Cape Coral recognized the post with its Community Recognition Award at a ceremony at City Hall. The city clerk read the following proclamation:
"Post 90 of SW Florida was awarded first place in the TALMA 2022-2023 for its Public Relations program for Posts with over 750 members. Overall, the competition received 95 entries in this year's contest. The winners were selected by members of the TALMA task force and certified by the American Legion Media & Communications Commission.” "The City of Cape Coral recognizes the community outreach efforts undertaken by Post 90 to provide assistance to veterans and the community of Cape Coral."
