The Omaha National Cemetery is currently under construction, and was dedicated on August 5, 2016. This is the 135th national cemetery maintained by the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. The Omaha National Cemetery address is 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, Nebraska. This 236 acre cemetery is expected to serve the military community for the next 100 years. A request went to the Sarpy County Board of Commissioners with a request to rename the part of Schram Road, from 132nd to 144th, Veterans Memorial Avenue. On October 4,2016 the Board approved the Resolution authorizing the Honorary Renaming of that one mile stretch of Schram Road, "Veterans Memorial Avenue". The dedication took place on Nov. 10, 2016.
