Lincoln and Soldiers' Monument
The Ohio Monumental Association organized April 25, 1865, at Columbus, to devise way and means for the erection of suitable memorials to the memory of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War Soldiers of Ohio. The result was the "Lincoln and Soldiers' Memorial" in the Ohio Capital Rotunda, representing the surrender of Vicksburg surmounted by a bust of President Abraham Lincoln. The monument is often mistakenly referred to as the "Vicksburg Monument".
