The front of a vertically-oriented monument depicts a helmeted serviceman, and the two medallions of the American Legion & American Legion Auxiliary. It is inscribed: DEDICATED IN HONOR AND APPRECIATION OF THOSE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED IN DEFENSE OF OUR COUNTRY. ERECTED BY CARTER C. HANNER – MAMON G. SHARP AMERICAN LEGION POST 129 – UNIT 129. HE BICENTINNEAL YEAR 1976. On the rear of the monument is a depiction of an American flag, flying, and the inscription: “WHO KNEW HIS RANK, HIS CREED, HIS RACE. TO US IT MATTERS NOT. HE WAS THE FLOWER OF YOUTH – THE HOPE OF MANKIND UNFULLFILLED. MAY THE ANGEL OF PEACE HAVE SWAY.” Maude Vogler Whipple (Note: Maude Vogler Whipple – Mrs. O.C. Whipple, served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 129, in Stillwater, OK, from 1946-1948.)
