Lovettsville Veterans Memorial

The Town of Lovettsville's Veterans Memorial, located in Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Va., honors the service and sacrifice of local citizens who served their country. Initially unveiled on July 4, 1991, the centerpiece of the memorial is an obelisk inscribed with a tribute to these brave individuals. Councilman Richard T. Greene's Dedication of Monument, July 4, 1991 “In the name of the Town Council of Lovettsville, Virginia, I now dedicate this memorial; I dedicate it to the memory of those who fell in the service of our country. I dedicate it in the name of those who offered their lives that justice, freedom and democracy might survive to be the victorious ideals of the peoples of the world. The lives of those who have made the supreme sacrifice are glorious before us; their deeds are an inspiration. As they served America in a time of war, yielding their last full measure of devotion, may we serve America in a time of peace. “I dedicate this monument to them, and with it I dedicate the Town of Lovettsville to the faithful service of our Country and to preservation of the memory of those who died that Liberty might live.” Enhancements made to the site, completed for the Veterans Day ceremony in 2011, include a commemorative wall featuring military seals, the town flagpole, seating, and personalized pavers sponsored by veterans and community members. As the heart of the town’s patriotic spirit, this memorial is the venue for all major patriotic events, including Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Patriot Day and more. In 2022, Lovettsville American Legion Post & Unit 1836 began a formal partnership to support the memorial.
