War Memorial, East St. Louis, Illinois

The war memorial in Jones Park is a new monument designed to replace the original Soldiers' Memorial that was dedicated on November 11, 1924. The originally monument had fallen into severe disrepair over the past few decades. Members of American Legion Post #2505 have embarked on a multi-phase project to erect a new memorial in its stead. The new war memorial was rededicated on May 25, 2019. It is located in East St. Louis, IL, at the entrance of Jones Park. The monument honors veterans of World War I, the Spanish-American War, the Civil War, and the Revolutionary War. Work continues on the monument, now in Phase 2, under the direction of the War Memorial Committee.
