Zion Hill Cemetery Civil War Memorial
Restored historic African American Cemetery dedicated to the 18 African American residents of Columbia, Pennsylvania who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Columbia, Pennsylvania, located close to the border of slave state Maryland, had a large population of both free blacks and former slaves. The majority of the Zion Hill Cemetery was bulldozed over in a 1960's construction of a bypass expressway around Columbia.
