All Wars of the 20th Century

All Wars of the 20th Century Laurel Mississippi Veterans Plaza Laurel, Mississippi This small plaza in Laurel, (Jones County) Mississippi. This memorial honors the young men from Jones County who gave their lives in the wars of the 20th century. Two tall flag poles center the plaza, around which are granite markers containing the names of those who served in each of the major wars of the 20th century. One marker is inscribed with the names of the three Medal of Honor recipients from Jones County. Monument was built in 1984 by National Endowment for the Humanities.
