Clay County Veterans Memorial

Clay County Veterans Memorial

The Clay County Veterans Memorial will recognize and honor Clay County Veterans from all branches of the service, whether they served in peacetime or wartime. The memorial is placed half way between the parking lot and the fountain in the Anita B. Gorman Park. Its centerpiece is "Sovereign Wings," a magnificent bronze sculpture of a Bald Eagle by renowned artist Sandy Scott. To honor approximately 400 Clay County residents who gave their lives in the service of their country, from the Civil War to present times, their names will be etched into granite monoliths surrounding the Eagle. Additional space will be left to record casualties in future wars or conflits. You, your family, and your friends can become part of the Clay County Veterans Memorial by purchasing personalized engraved bricks. These bricks will become part of the Clay County Veterans Memorial, providing a border on the front side of the memorial.
