Como Soldiers Monument

Como Soldiers Monument

Como Soldiers Monument was designed and erected by Lieutenant Hiram Platt, a Como, Montana resident, at Como Park by the Como School. It was made by Joseph Iten with assistants in May 1922. The plaques on the monument commemorate Como-area men who served in the Civil War, Spanish-American War and World War I. The cylindrical memorial stands about seven feet tall with an old artillery shell at the top. It was moved to the Ravalli County Museum in July, 1981 by Donald Platt, grandson of Hiram Platt, because he was concerned about preserving the monument from vandalism.
