Brown County Veterans Memorial

Brown County Veterans Memorial

On the lawn of the Brown County Courthouse proudly rests a memorial which pays a lasting tribute to all Brown County veterans- past, present and future. The Brown County Veterans' Memorial was completed and became a reality after two long years of planning and construction. It was dedicated on Veterans' Day (November 11), 1999. By the spring of 2012 the memorial’s maximum capacity of 2,155 paver stones were rapidly consuming the allotted space. A plan was devised to install 14 vertical granite panels designed to accommodate 77 memorial engravings on each side. Estimates to complete the project we set at $90,000 and a capital campaign was begun. The memorial renovation project began in the late fall of 2014 and the final four flat pavers were laid on 6 October 2014. Four vertical black granite panels were lowered into place on 8 September 2015. 22 names have been added to the vertical engraved panels with space for 2,134 future engraved names. A lasting tribute for decades to come.
