TALARC Radio Room gets upgrade
The American Legion Amateur Radio Club Headquarters Station, K9TAL, upgraded to two HF operating positions in December 2014. However, until a second HF antenna can be procured and mounted on the roof, only one HF station can operate at a time.![The original HF position now uses a Kenwood TS-850 transceiver, while the TS0450 moved to the old VHF-UHF operating position.](https://www.legion.org/sites/legion.org/files/styles/scale800w/public/legion/photo-album/143/2014-12-15/Radio%20Room%20IMG_0453_0.jpg?itok=dfAyte_S)

![The second operating position now has an Ameritron AL-80B linear amplifier to add a little extra pizzazz to the TS-450's output. The Yaesu FT8800 packs a good punch on VHF/UHF bands, where it also works IRLP and Echolink stations.
