The pink tax, COVID vaccines and stolen military weapons

The Tango Alpha Lima co-hosts examine a range of timely topics for the veterans and military community in this week’s episode of The American Legion podcast.

The pink tax, vaccinations for Marines and missing military weapons are all part of this week’s episode of The American Legion Tango Alpha Lima podcast.

Co-host Ashley Gorbulja-Maldonado introduces the pink tax topic related to a bipartisan bill that would reduce costs female troops face when buying items for their uniforms. According to a story by Military.com, the bill would require the Pentagon to review changes to uniforms for potential out-of-pocket costs between genders, as well as mandate a report on the retail costs of items for male and female officers and enlisted personnel.

“There is a consensus of it being absurd for forcing servicemembers to fork over thousands of dollars in order to pay for necessary clothing items while they are serving their country,” Gorbulja-Maldonado said. “With that being said, the costs are stark for women who are facing paying almost twice as much for the same uniform.”

The hosts analyze and discuss other hot topics, including:
• Marines refusing the mandated COVID vaccine.
• The search, or lack thereof, for missing military weapons, including grenades and machine guns, that end up with civilians on the streets.
• VA and the backlog of claims.
