Union County World War II Honor Roll

Union County World War II Honor Roll
This was the vision of two men to honor the 2,260 that served from Union County, Pennsylvania. Fifty-nine people gave the ultimate sacrifice and their names are on the monument. Drew Machamer and Albert Hess even put their own homes up as collateral for this project. A Veteran's Day program is held every year at the monument on the Saturday before Veteran's Day with the ceremony loaded with children from beginning to end. Our pledge is to honor veterans and to do something tangible to help them. We tie in a benefit for the VA nursing home in Hollidaysburg and it has become a very special part of our yearly celebration.
