![WWI 328th Infantry 82nd Airborne AEF Rock](/getmedia/ff5fadda-c28c-40db-a6cd-244e393f5ee5/Stone.jpg_2.jpg)
This war memorial is a gray rock, approximately 6 feet long by 3 feet wide by 3 feet high. The front face of the rock bears a red, white, and blue painted engraving of the "AA" ("All-American") insignia from the shoulder patch of the 82nd Airborne Division. Beneath the insignia, the stone is engraved to honor the sacrifice of the 328th Infantry regiment in War War I. A sign next to the stone indicates that it was carved in 1919 by a Georgia stonemason to honor the 82nd Airborne Division's 328th Infantry. The stone was originally located at Camp Gordon, Georgia, the original base of the 82nd Airborne Division and where they were organized in August of 1917. Fort Bragg became the home of the 82nd Airborne in the late 1940s, with the stone being relocated there likely around the same time.
