The monument is composed of cast-stone with the embedded seals of the five branches of the U.S. military -- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard. The stone is in the shape of an inverted trapezoid, with the narrow angle pointing downward to the base. The stone rests on an inscribed angular base. A plaque is embedded in the stone plaza in front of the structure. Inscription DEDICATED TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF ROWAN COUNTY WHO SERVED THIS COUNTRY WITH HONOR

The monument is located next to the flagpole circle in the National Cemetery and faces generally north. The cemetery is located on the south side of South Railroad Street off Government Road in Salisbury, NC.
