The names of the 34 Monmouth County men killed in action during the Korean War are etched in a grey granite monument. Above the names is the etched image of a nameless American soldier bundled in blankets and shivering from the cold of the Korean winter. Below that the inscription reads: "Far off, long ago, we fell on the field of honor. Remember us now." On either side of the monument are etched copies of the Korean service medal and the United Nations service medal.

The intersection of Route 79 and Route 537 in Freehold, N.J. creates a triangle of land known locally as "Elks Point." The Korean War monument is located on the right side, closer to Route 537.
