This memorial is Missouri's way of honoring Gold Star Families (those who have lost family members who died while in service to our country), preserves the memory of the fallen, and stands as a stark reminder that freedom is not free. The scenes on each panel are reflections of Missouri Gold Star Families and their fallen heroes. The silhouette featured in the tribute represents the loved one who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. This Memorial is made possible through the vision of The Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation, the creativity of College of the Ozarks students Katherine Yung and Emma Carter, and the generosity of Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf and Big Cedar Lodge.
