A bronze plaque recognizing the community and surrounding farming families that served and died between 1941 and 1945. Several members who died or listed as Missing in Action have a star by their name. The original plaque and memorial were erected in the early 1950's. A tornado in 1978 damaged the brick memorial and it was rebuilt in the early 1980's. At that time, residents and family members who served in Korea and Vietnam were acknowledged with a bronze nameplate attached to plywood and covered with a storm door. In the late 1990's the wood and nameplates were replaced with a slab of granite with names etched into the rock. The brickwork was done by a local resident. The community conducts a Memorial Day service annually and reads the names of those who served in earlier conflicts and who have since passed and are buried in the Dana Cemetery. This reading includes those who served in Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, and those who served in any branch during peacetime.
