University students, graduates and veterans interested in public service invited to apply.

On April 7, the White House posted the application for its summer 2025 internship program. The term will run from June 4 to Aug. 8 in Washington, D.C.

Brette Carolyn Powell, special assistant to the president and deputy director of the Office of Public Liaison, said that the program “is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the executive office and prepare them for future public service opportunities.” The upcoming term “will center on leadership development and community impact while embracing the history of the White House as the training ground for equipping the next generation of leaders.”

Applicants must be at least 18, U.S. citizens and meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college or university (two-to-four-year institution) and have completed two semesters prior to the internship’s start date of June 4
• Have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college, community college or university (two-to-four-year institution) no more than two years before June 4
• Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and have served on active duty for any length of time in the two years preceding June 4

White House internships are unpaid; applicants are encouraged to contact educational institutions and other nonprofits organizations to apply for assistance. Any outside income, funding or housing assistance received as a White House intern must receive pre-approval. Applicants will be subject to drug testing and a security screening.
