In celebration of Americanism Month for The American Legion, videos highlighting the organization’s premier youth programs are available for viewing and sharing. These programs engage high school students in civics, sportsmanship, marksmanship skills and government instruction while instilling patriotism and active citizenship.
American Legion posts can view and share the videos with Legion Family members, students, parents and schools to promote the programs and encourage participation and volunteerism. The less than 3-minute videos for National Oratorical Contest, Boys Nation, Junior Shooting Sports Program and Legion Baseball are on the Legion’s YouTube page here.

Oratorical Contest – video highlights the competition where high school students develop an understanding and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution by preparing and reciting speeches. A finalist from each department participating in the program advances to the finals on the campus of Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich., where they compete for a top three finish and $203,500 in scholarships.
Boys Nation – video follows the top 100 rising high school seniors selected by their respective Boys State programs to attend Boys Nation for a week in Washington, D.C., where they receive an education on the structure and function of federal government.
Junior Shooting Sports Program – video reviews the program’s basic elements of gun safety, education and competition as youth compete in the Legion’s national three-position air rifle tournament at Hillsdale College where the competitors vie for a first-place finish in both the precision and sporter category.
Legion Baseball – video shows players from the top eight teams at the American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C., and why they play and enjoy Legion Baseball.
