The War Ended
by Jean Meyer
I came home or did I?
The war ended or did it?
There was no ticker tape parade
And we were scorned and spit at.
In the world around us we were afraid to talk
About what happened and so many just took a walk.
For many years it all went untold
How we were always strong brave and bold.
We only did what our country asked
Many died and more were wounded
While others were captured for doing their task.
The mud the blood the guts and gore
The jungle rot and so much more
Each one of us saw what no one should see
War was hell that is a certainty
More are dying everyday
From lifelong deceases from agent orange and ptsd.
So we came home or did we?
And the war ended or did it?
