Five posts in five different departments are wanted to use new American Legion Legacy Scholarship promotional materials.
The American Legion National Headquarters is looking for posts in five different states to test market new materials available to promote The American Legion Legacy Scholarship.
The 2017 scholarship application is now online; the application process will run until April 20. A Legacy Promotion Kit has been put together that includes American Legion Legacy Scholarship branded items such as lanyards, pens, backpacks and printed materials about the scholarship. The kit will also include five buttons to be worn by volunteers when promoting the scholarship.
National staff has identified five different American Legion departments to test market the new materials and is requesting help in identifying strategically beneficial posts in the follow areas:
• California – San Diego/Oceanside
• Michigan – East Lansing/Ann Arbor
• Ohio – Columbus
• Texas – San Antonio
• Washington – Tacoma
It is vitally important that the posts selected to participate in this test are active posts with a passion for the Legacy Scholarship. Each post participating in the test would receive two kits, and the posts would have to be willing to participate in no less than two activities with their local schools in order to directly promote the scholarship to the core audience: children of post-9/11 servicemembers who died while on active duty, and children of post-9/11 veterans with a 50 percent or higher Department of Veterans Affairs-rated disability.
The promotional kits will not be ready to ship until February, but national staff wants to identify the participating posts quickly in order to develop a concrete promotional strategy.
More information is being sent to the above departments. If your post is in one of the areas and wants to be considered for one of the five test spots, contact your district commander or department adjutant. Or contact National Headquarters here.
