March 8 is the deadline for American Legion state departments to submit the names of winners participating in the Legion's 73rd National Oratorical Championship Contest to national headquarters.
With the 73rd American Legion National Oratorical Championship Contest less than six weeks away, American Legion departments must submit the names of participating contestants to the Legion's National Headquarters by March 8. Failure to meet this fast-approaching deadline could result in disqualification from the contest.
Each department is allowed to send one contestant, the winner from its finals competition, to the National Oratorical Championship Contest that takes place April 9-11 in Indianapolis. If a department's winner is unable to participate in the national finals, its runner-up may compete upon approval from the National Americanism Commission.
