100 Miles for Hope, the Paralympics, a virtual job fair, Ukraine and potential new leadership at VA highlight today’s lineup. 

The Department of California is off and running, walking, cycling and raising critical funds for The American Legion 100 Miles for Hope. And it has issued a challenge to other departments to top what California raises this time. Learn how to start taking part in 100 Miles for Hope.

Team USA’s sled hockey team extended its record gold-medal streak to four, closing out the 2022 Winter Paralympics with a 5-0 win over Canada on March 13. Army veteran Jen Lee had 16 saves for his third shutout of the 2022 Games, his first as Team USA’s starting goaltender. 

“We wanted to offer something in our community to get the youth involved.”  American Legion Post 71 in Charles Town, W.Va., and Flynn VR Arcade have joined forces to bring virtual reality gaming to town. Each Friday evening, from 6-10 p.m., the doors are open for youngsters and their families to come explore the world of virtual reality gaming.

A U.S. official said Russia asked China for military equipment to use in its invasion of Ukraine, a request that heightened tensions about the ongoing war ahead of a Monday meeting in Rome between top aides for the U.S. and Chinese governments.

The White House has announced its nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs health care system — a top role at the agency that has been vacant for the past five years – and a candidate to be the next VA undersecretary for benefits. The appointees are Shereef Elnahal as undersecretary for health for the Veterans Health Administration and Ray Jefferson as undersecretary for benefits for the Veterans Benefits Administration.
