From providing delivery to carry-out, as well as socially distanced meals, American Legion Family members will continue to help others despite the pandemic.

For decades, many American Legion Family members have provided a venue for those less fortunate or alone to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Others have provided delivery of those meals or staged food drives to provide families with the means to prepare their own Thanksgiving dinner.

But as it has done to the nation’s way of life, the coronavirus pandemic has forced an altered way of providing Thanksgiving for the Legion Family. While many events have been cancelled, others have been adapted to adhere to social distancing measures and other safety protocols.

The following are just some examples of how the American Legion Family is continuing to help others celebrate Thanksgiving. If your post, unit or squadron is providing some sort of Thanksgiving assistance to others, please share it at www.legiontown.org.

Williams American Legion Post 65 will be the site for HeroZona Foundation’s 17th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, which will be done in a drive-thru format to ensure the safety of volunteers and individuals picking up the donations.
