February Impact: Legion shares concerns with Congress

Legionnaires listen, learn and advocate at Washington Conference.

The 65th American Legion Washington Conference gave veterans a voice on Capitol Hill in February, but that is not all the event produced. Legionnaires and staff distributed comfort bags and gift cards at homeless veteran facilities, partnered with the Small Business Administration to help veterans with entrepreneurial aspirations and guided Samsung Scholars through the nation’s capital.

Meanwhile, American Legion service officers and claims representatives assisted thousands with their VA disability benefits and appeals; the American Legion Child Well-Being Foundation awarded $535,000 in grants, and National Emergency Fund support was sent to Los Angeles in the aftermath of January’s devastating wildfires.
