January Impact: Disaster response, a Salute to Heroes and benefits secured for disabled veterans

LA wildfire assistance, scholarship distributions, support for disabled veterans highlight the first month of 2025.

American Legion Family members affected by the January Los Angeles wildfires, even some who lost their homes, leaned into the disaster, converted posts into resource centers and helped community members in the darkest of times. Meanwhile, the American Legion National Emergency Fund sent relief grants to those affected by natural disasters throughout the country.

The American Legion’s Grassroots Advocacy Center continues to grow in participation as National Commander James LaCoursiere Jr. prepares to testify before a joint session of the Senate and House Committees on Veterans’ Affairs. And two more American Legion Baseball alums learned during the month that they will be enshrined in Cooperstown.
