Impact Report: An August for the history books

PACT Act, World Series, Legacy Run and national convention show how The American Legion makes differences.

President Biden’s Aug. 10 signing of the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act stands as history’s most comprehensive development to provide help and relief to veterans exposed to contamination in the service. The American Legion-supported measure stands to assist some 3.5 million veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits in the Global War on Terrorism, along with others who have been previously denied government recognition.

Meanwhile, a record-setting Legacy Run that brought more than $1.32 million to the stage of the 103rd American Legion National Convention for the Legacy Scholarship Fund, the first American Legion World Series championship for an Alabama team since 1967, one couple’s shattered goal in the 100 Miles for Hope challenge and much more filled August with accomplishments and milestones.
