The U.S. pilot who shot down four Russian MiGs in a single dogfight during the Korean War then kept it a secret for 50 years will share his story Aug. 16 during a presentation at the Indiana War Memorial.
The heroics of Capt. Royce Williams, a member of American Legion Post 416 in Encinitas, Calif., will be highlighted throughout the evening. There will be a documentary about his 35-minute engagement, a panel discussion and an opportunity to meet the Silver Star recipient.
Williams’ incredible story received national attention when it was reported in The American Legion Magazine last year.
The event is from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Indiana War Memorial, 55 E. Michigan St., Indianapolis. Tickets cost $40 ($30 for veterans) and can be purchased from the Indiana War Memorials Foundation online here.
