Announcements: National Commander Bill Oxford’s comments from 4 September were read: “In addition to advocating for veterans every day in the halls of Congress, The American Legion is constantly serving communities across America and overseas. In August alone, your American Legion Operation Comfort Warriors program awarded $46,000 in grants to help meet the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel. Additionally, The American Legion awarded $116,771 in national youth scholarships; and $13,100 was awarded in National Emergency Fund grants to assist individual members and posts of The American Legion in the aftermath of natural disasters. Veterans benefits claims specialists from The American Legion had 202 appeals ruled in favor of the veteran. Not bad for one month’s work.”
If you have a digital voice-capable radio D-Star, C4FM, Wires-X or DMR, and would like to join next Thursday’s net, all information can be found at www.openquad.net. NOTE: The C4FM reflector can be found at Quadnet-Array, Room 45058. D-Star via XRF 757A, and DMR via Talkgroup 31012. K5TAL also hosts an 80 M net every Wed at 7 pm CDT on 3.862 mhz.
