All of the thanks for this month’s HUGE success goes to Paul (K9PTF) for his initiative of offering $1 per check-in of the first 25. His generosity caught on like wildfire and we wound up with a total of 9 sponsors and raised a total of $225, which will fully fund a young man from our local area to attend the American Legion-sponsored Boys State.
As follows is a full list of our $25 sponsors: Paul (K9PTF), Jack (KD4IZ), Tony (KB4TC), The Wilderness Road Radio Club (W4CDA), Ken (KY4KD), George (KM4QOY), Dennis (K3KZU), Peter (KJ4ND) & Bernie (KM4TPW).
SPECIAL THANKS TO THESE 9 HAMS !!!

Item: Veterans Day Special Event
On Sunday, November 11, the 2018 Veterans Day Special Event will be hosted by K9TAL. Stations will operate from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. EST, using the call sign N9V – November- Niner -Veteran. Three stations will be in operation: a 40m station will operate from the Legion’s national headquarters at Indianapolis and will be manned by Bill NZ9S, Mike W9MNA and Marty W9WMJ. Two 20m stations will be in operation also. In Maryland a 20m station will be manned by Everett WA3DVO, and in South Dakota a 20m station will be manned by Bill KIØCW. Both Everett and Bill will be using the N9V call sign along with their personal call signs.
To accommodate almost all our members, there are several communications modes to choose from including HF, VHF, IRLP and EchoLink.
To contact Special Event Stations N9V, tune to 7.225 MHz (+/- 5 KHz); or to 14.275 MHz (+/- 5 KHz); or to the 2m K9DC 147.315 Repeater at Indianapolis; or to IRLP Node 9735; or to the EchoLink *CROSSRDS* Conference node. Any ham radio operators who contact the stations are eligible to receive a QSL card and a commemorative certificate to document their participation.
All the information for the Veterans Day Special Event is on the QRZ.com website – search on the Special Event call sign, N9V, November - Niner - Veteran. Information is also in the October edition of the TALARC monthly newsletter, which was mailed from Legion National Headquarters during the week of October 8.
NOTE: Because of the Special Event on the 11th of November, the monthly 20m net, the monthly EchoLink net and the monthly IRLP/EchoLink combined net will be suspended.
