On June 14, Flag Day, American Legion posts often hold a proper flag retirement ceremony or participate in community celebrations. The American Legion National Headquarters has resources available for posts and members to use on June 14.

- Visit legion.org/flag for flag FAQs, myths, flag-folding procedures and videos, and more.

- Sign up for the Flag Alert e-newsletter at legion.org/newsletters. The newsletter provides notification when the U.S. flag is to be displayed at half-staff.

- Subscribe to the Flag Alert text notifications. First, text Flag to 534466. You will receive a text asking for a valid email address for the two-step authorization. Once that is complete, you will receive the text alerts.

- Purchase The American Legion's “Indivisible: The Story of Our Flag” bookazine through Emblem Sales for $9.95. The 112-page publication is a collector's item that pays tribute to our nation's colors. Through colorful photos, illustrations, poems, quotations, fun facts and more, "Indivisible" tells the story of the U.S. flag from the American Revolution to the Global War on Terrorism. Flag Day is an ideal time for American Legion Family members to use “Indivisible” as a way to generate awareness of Old Glory and what the flag represents in communities nationwide.

And a 7 p.m. EDT on June 14 is the annual Pause for the Pledge.
