Donations can also be made to the National Emergency Fund to help those impacted by the wildfires.

Firefighters continue to fight wildfires in Los Angeles County, where approximately 25 people have died and thousands more have been forced to evacuate.

Winds that were fueling the blazes are dying down but dangerous conditions could return next week, the National Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, the American Legion Family is stepping up to help their family most directly impacted by the fires.

While Post 283 in Pacific Palisades remained closed as of Thursday, the post still intends to be available for the community, and updates continue to be added to the post’s online Fire Resource Hub.

That hub includes links to a zoomable map of the damage and an aerial look at some of the Palisades area, for residents who evacuated and want to see the damage to their home.

Post 43 in Hollywood has been collecting donations daily, including blankets, sheets, toiletries, hygiene products, paper towels, paper plates, cutlery, bottled water, pet food, gift cards and small appliances. They have also been feeding firefighters battling the fires.

Members of Post 519 in Palm Springs raised about $250 for the American Red Cross during the community’s weekly Village Fest and have plans to continue the fundraising efforts each Thursday.

In Imperial Beach, Post 820 collected donations including blankets, toiletries, masks, hygiene products, bottled water and first aid kits. And proceeds from last weekend’s breakfasts at the post were collected to further relief efforts.

Donate to NEF
