Untouched by last month’s wildfire, the post in Pacific Palisades will provide services to residents as they seek to restore and rebuild.
American Legion Pacific Palisades Post 283 is serving as a community support center as relief efforts continue following last month’s devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County.
The post’s Legion Hall will be staffed by veterans and family members to assist those in need, the post announced.
Services offered at the post include insurance and legal advice; FEMA, SBA and Red Cross stations; mental health counselors; clergy; supplies such as PPE, food, water, shovels and sifters for residents returning to assess their properties; and tools available for loan for those working through recovery efforts.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began clearing debris on Tuesday from properties destroyed in Pacific Palisades and Altadena. January’s Eaton and Palisades fires destroyed more than 9,400 buildings in Altadena and more than 6,800 in Pacific Palisades.
