The American Legion is a sponsor of “America’s Game,” and posts can take advantage of this opportunity by using new resources to promote their event.
Dear American Legion Family members and friends,
For the first time in the 125-year storied history of the Army-Navy Football Game presented by USAA, a veterans service organization will be an Associate Level Sponsor.
What an honor it is for The American Legion to be part of “America’s Game,” where millions tune in annually for the contest. On Dec. 14, I’ll definitely be watching the game with pride as some of America’s best and brightest battle it out for bragging rights and the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy.
Our sponsorship is more than just slapping The American Legion name on promotional materials. It allows us to reach a broader audience and demonstrate our value to military members past and present, their families, and the communities in which they live.
We’ll be able to showcase how we are changing lives and saving lives through Be the One. We will highlight the incredible work of our accredited service officers who recently secured a record $21 billion in claims benefits for disabled veterans in a fiscal year. And so much more.
American Legion posts can also leverage the excitement around the Army-Navy Game and our sponsorship by hosting a watch party. This is an opportunity for posts to discuss Be the One and share resources with their community.
To assist posts, American Legion staff has created and published the following resources:
• Social media graphics that you can customize to promote your event.
• A sample press release. Simply download it, fill in the information specific to your event, and distribute the release around your community and share with local media.
• Talking points that can be easily adapted for a pre-game welcome at the post event and/or to use during an interview with local media.
And last but not least, share how you celebrated America’s Game by posting a story on our Legiontown website.
National Commander
James LaCoursiere Jr.
P.S. While the game itself and our sponsorship are reasons to celebrate, we know all too well that not everyone will share in the joy. For veterans who are in a dark place and may be experiencing thoughts of self-harm, remind them they have access to the Veterans Crisis Line 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 988 and press 1, or text 838255.
