Saturday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Aug. 29: Membership training with subject matter experts. Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days at the Wisconsin Center, Room 103, Section B, First Floor.
Topics of discussion include how to:
- Contact your legislators
- Run an effective meeting
- Inspire post growth and retention
- Conduct Buddy Checks
- Write resolutions
- Have effective communication and public speaking skills
- Address suicide prevention efforts
Monday, Aug. 29: Intro to MyLegion.org Workshop. A comprehensive training session on the mylegion.org platform will be presented from 9-11:30 a.m. and from 2-4:30 p.m. The training will be held in the Wisconsin Center, Room 103, Sections D-E, First Floor. This training will also be virtual for anyone not at convention to attend. Pre-registration at the Media & Communications booth located in the exhibit hall is required.
Monday, Aug. 29: The American Legion Media Alliance (TALMA) annual Media Training Workshop. The daylong workshop, which is open to everyone, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wisconsin Center, Room 102, Section D, First Floor. Register for the workshop at www.legion.org/talma/workshop.
The Media Training Workshop will include presentations on how to:
- Start a Facebook page, advertise on it, and use Facebook to drive membership
- Develop best practices for photography skills
- Use texting to communicate with members
- Design visual content for print and online with Canva
- Host virtual meetings
- Support and promote American Legion’s Be The One campaign
Monday, Aug. 29: Incoming District Commanders Training. Training for incoming district commanders will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hilton Milwaukee, Wright Ballroom, Sections A-B, Fourth Floor.
