Centennial coins, Spring Meetings and Legion College.
American Legion Centennial coins. The American Legion is still working with the U.S. Mint and others to finalize the designs for the gold, silver and half-dollar coins that celebrate the centennial of the Legion. Once a set of three coins, obverse and reverse, are approved, the U.S. Mint will decide when to strike them. All coins are expected to go on sale in March 2019. The formal unveiling of the coin designs will take place this summer.
Spring Meetings. The American Legion’s National Executive Committee, and commission and committee members, will meet in Indianapolis May 7-10, for the Legion’s annual Spring Meetings. Follow coverage at www.legion.org. Among the priorities discussed and resolutions brought forth, the 2018 Eagle Scout of the Year and Legacy Scholarship recipients will be announced.
2018 Legion College applications online. The National American Legion College will be conducted at National Headquarters in Indianapolis Oct. 28 to Nov. 2. American Legion members interested in attending can apply online at www.legion.org/college/application.
Applications must be submitted by July 31. Legion College focuses on leadership, mentorship, resolution writing, parliamentary procedure and how to a conduct post meeting.
