Army veteran and “Dancing With the Stars” alum Noah Galloway will open the 97th American Legion National Convention in Baltimore as the event's master of ceremonies.
In December 2005, while serving in Iraq, Galloway's left leg and left arm were partially severed in an IED explosion. He also suffered injuries to his right leg and jaw in the blast.
After being released from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Galloway struggled with alcohol and depression and was in poor physical shape. Eventually, he turned his life around, setting a goal to be healthier so that he could inspire others. To aid his recovery, he re-embraced an old passion for fitness, and now travels the country as a motivational speaker.
Galloway, a Legionnaire who lives in Alabama, has completed marathons, CrossFit competitions, Tough Mudder obstacle course races and other endurance events.
