New York-based group captures Natonal Convention Concert Band Contest.
New York's American Legion Band of the Tonawandas received the highest marks from judges at The American Legion's 93rd Natonal Convention Concert Band Contest. The band, which was originally formed by World War I veterans in 1929, rehearses year-round and performs approximately 30 concerts and parades a year.
Taking second in Saturday's contest in Minneapolis was the Joliet, Ill., American Legion Band. Third went to The American Legion Band of Greater Kansas City.
