Organization’s suicide prevention program will have prominent presence at Fan Zone on gameday.

At its national convention last August in New Orleans, The American Legion announced on stage it was becoming an associate sponsor of the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA, with this season becoming the first year of the sponsorship.

The American Legion is the first veterans service organization to sponsor “America’s Game” in its history. The partnership kicks off Dec. 14 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., during the 125th meeting between the two service academies, and is an opportunity for the Legion to raise awareness about its Be the One mission to reduce the number of veterans and servicemembers lost to suicide. The game will be broadcast nationwide at 3 p.m. ET on CBS.

Those efforts will be on full display this weekend in Washington, D.C., and then prior to the game. The American Legion will have a strong presence in various events, including live-streaming from Media Row, branding opportunities at the Army-Navy Game Block Party, and an opportunity to share Be the One messaging ahead of the game on Saturday.

On Friday, the Army-Navy Block Party will take place at The Yards Park in D.C. and will include an opportunity to have pictures taken inside of an American Legion-branded snow globe. The party also will include live entertainment, games, giveaways, a curling rink and a fireworks display presented by USAA that night.

Also on Friday, the Legion’s Tango Alpha Lima podcast team will be conducting live interviews with special guests along Media Row at the Military Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to watch the interviews either while they are happening or after the fact.

On Saturday, the Legion’s Be the One activation display that was presented at races throughout the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES will be on site in the Fan Fest area to provide information about the Legion’s suicide prevention program. Attendees will have the opportunity to take the Be The One pledge, play games, join the Legion and receive benefits assistance from an American Legion service officer.

And from 8 a.m.-noon, an American Legion display also will be on site in the muster area – the gathering area for all the cadets and midshipmen attending the game – at Northwest Stadium.  The cast of “Office Joe”, a television series that covers the challenge veterans face during their transition life, will be at the display and help hand out bottled water.
