Portland captured Maine’s first American Legion World Series championship with a 2-0 win over Kennewick (Wash.) Post 34 in the 2004 championship game. Mike Powers allowed one hit and struck out seven across eight innings, and Ryan Reid struck out the side in the ninth for the save.
