Facts about the history of American Legion Baseball in the Department of Alaska.

Each year, Alaska’s Legion Baseball program brings in coaches with Major League Baseball experience to guide high school, middle school and elementary school baseball hopefuls.

The November 2024 Professional Coaches Clinic brought more than 100 players to Anchorage to work on hitting, pitching, fielding and other skills.

First season of American Legion Baseball: 1954.

First state champion: Anchorage Post 1.

Notable alumni: Chad Bentz, former major leaguer; Marshall Boze, former major leaguer; Lauren Frost, former Stanford University softball player.

American Legion World Series appearances: None.
