The Concert on the Corner replaces the American Legion World Series Festival, takes place Saturday before series begins in Shelby, N.C.
Country artist John Michael Montgomery will headline a free concert in Shelby, N.C., the Saturday before the 98th American Legion World Series.
The Concert on the Corner will take place Aug. 9 in Uptown Shelby, with music beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event replaces the American Legion World Series Festival, with local organizers noting that a study regarding spending and attendance for the festival indicated the concert was the primary draw.
In addition to Montgomery, whose hits include “I Love The Way You Love Me” and “I Swear,” the Concert on the Corner will include performances by local artist Bailey Marie and rising country star Scotty Hasting, an Army veteran who has shared his battle with PTSD and how songwriting and playing music brings him peace.
Hasting is also scheduled to serve as the emcee for the opening general session of The American Legion’s National Convention, Aug. 22-28 in Tampa, Fla.
