Honors include 1st-time Gold Glove Awards for Bregman and Varsho, 4th Silver Slugger Award for Harper.
Three American Legion Baseball alumni added to their trophy cases with awards for their performances during the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper (Las Vegas) earned his fourth Silver Slugger Award and was also a second-team All-MLB Team selection. Harper hit 30 home runs with an .898 OPS in 145 games this season, his first full-time campaign at first base, and became the first player to win multiple Silver Slugger Awards as an outfielder and then one at first base.
Two Legion Baseball alumni won Gold Glove Awards, both for the first time. The Astros’ Alex Bregman (Albuquerque, N.M.) earned the honor at third base and the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho (Post 54/Marshfield, Wis.) won the award in center field.
Bregman, a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champions, had six Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and six Outs Above Average (OAA).
Varsho’s 3.1 defensive Wins Above Replacement (WAR) was the most by any player at any position in the major leagues in 2024, and his 28 DRS were five more than any other outfielder.
